Day by day plan
Day 1
Colombo to Galle
Drive south along the coastal expressway. Check in at Galle Fort. Evening walking tour of the Dutch colonial fort, ramparts, and lighthouse.
Day 2
Galle Fort and Unawatuna
Morning deep dive into Galle Fort: museums, churches, and boutique shops. Afternoon at Unawatuna Beach. Sunset at the fort ramparts.
Day 3
Mirissa Whale Watching
Pre dawn departure for a blue whale watching boat tour (Nov to Apr is the best season). Return to the beach. Afternoon at Mirissa with an optional surfing lesson.
Day 4
Turtle Hatchery and Weligama
Visit Kosgoda Sea Turtle Hatchery. Explore Weligama, which is great for beginner surfing. Traditional stilt fishermen photo stop at Koggala.
Day 5
Yala National Park Safari
Early morning jeep safari in Yala to spot leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and many bird species. Afternoon at leisure near Tissamaharama.
Day 6
Return to Colombo
Scenic coastal drive back to Colombo. Optional stop at Hikkaduwa coral reef for snorkelling. Airport transfer.
